How Does Invisalign Work?

What Makes Invisalign Different

Invisalign does away with the unsightly and uncomfortable metal brackets and wires associated with traditional orthodontics. Instead, Invisalign uses a series of nearly invisible clear aligners that gradually straighten your teeth.

About every two weeks, you switch to the next aligner in a series of numbered trays. Treatment generally takes 12 to 18 months.

Each aligner is carefully designed to make contact with each tooth. The aligners themselves are made out of a patented material called SmartTrack® that provides improved control over the movement of the teeth. For patients, this means greater predictability and faster treatment

Are You Still Unable
to Make a Decision?

After spending hours researching Invisalign online, people are still left without the one piece of information they need: Is Invisalign the right orthodontic treatment for me?

There's only one way to get the answer. Book a consultation. Wyse Family & Cosmetic Dentistry in Bloomington, IL, makes that step easy by making it free.

What Can Invisalign Correct?

Invisalign technology is improving all the time, allowing more and more people to take advantage of this revolutionary treatment. However, patients with complex cases may need to see an orthodontist for braces to achieve the best results.

You can trust the trained cosmetic dentists at Wyse Family & Cosmetic Dentistry in Bloomington, Illinois, to make an objective assessment of your needs and recommend solutions that are right for you. Orthodontic issues that can be treated with Invisalign include:

Did Your Teeth
Shift Again
after Braces?

Drs. Wyse and Chrisman see this problem frequently. They can use Invisalign to bring your teeth back into their correct position and you can avoid the inconveniences that go along with wearing metal braces.

How Invisalign Makes Treatment More Enjoyable The Benefits of Invisalign

Comfortable

Braces with their metal wires and brackets are notorious for being uncomfortable. Each Invisalign aligner is made of smooth, medical-grade plastic molded to fit precisely over your teeth. There's nothing to irritate the soft tissue in your mouth.

Discreet

One of the most obvious benefits of a clear aligner is that it is nearly invisible in your mouth, a boon to both teens and adults looking to improve their smile without having to endure uncomfortable stares or unfortunate selfies.

Enjoy Your Favorite Foods

Popcorn and caramels are back on the menu, along with apples and carrots. Because aligner trays are removable, you can eat your favorite foods without worry.

Play Sports Without Worry

Contact sports are a concern when wearing braces since you run the risk of cutting the inside of your mouth on the brackets and wires. If you lead an active lifestyle, aligners with their snug fit and smooth surface can be a safer option.

What Does Invisalign Cost?

While we would love to give you a price for Invisalign here and now, the fact is that without assessing your mouth to determine your orthodontic needs, any price would be just a guess.

Each patient's case is unique and the price depends on how much correction is needed.

But there is a way to get an accurate quote: Request a free consultation at Wyse Family & Cosmetic Dentistry in Bloomington, Illinois. We'll give you a solid quote, not a guess, so you can make a decision based on facts.

What Does Invisalign Treatment Look Like?

Either Dr. Wyse or Dr. Chrisman will assess your smile to determine if Invisalign is the right orthodontic treatment for you. If you have a complex case that requires metal braces, we will refer you to an orthodontist. However, for many people, Invisalign is the right choice. In that case, you can expect your treatment to look like this:

Our practice has been a trusted dental provider for more than 100 years.
Our practice has been a trusted dental provider for more than 100 years.

Consultation

If you are a suitable candidate for Invisalign, the dentist will use our state-of-the-art digital scanner to create a 3-D model of your mouth. We can even show you a digital representation of what you can expect your smile to look like after treatment.

Planning

Using high-tech software, a custom treatment plan will be designed to move your teeth into their correct position. Then Invisalign lab technicians will create an aligner for each stage of the treatment. This step takes between two and four weeks.

Receiving Aligners

When your aligners are ready, you will return to the practice to pick them up and receive instructions on how to use and maintain them. The dentist will also answer any questions you might have.

Daily Wear

To be effective, aligners need to be worn 20 to 22 hours a day. They should be removed when you eat and to be cleaned. If you don't wear your aligners for the required hours every day, then your treatment may need to be extended or you may have poor results.

Alternatives to Invisalign

There is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all cosmetic treatment for smiles. If aligners are not appropriate in your case, the highly skilled cosmetic dentists at our Bloomington, IL, office have the background and training to offer alternatives. Drs. Wyse and Chrisman have decades of experience restoring smiles using a variety of procedures, including veneers, crowns, and dental implants.
